Shae Cornette's husband suggests obstacles in reaching ESPN's 'First Take'

Shay Cornette’s Husband Responds to Her New Role

Jordan Cornette, husband of ESPN host Shay Cornette, recently shared a thoughtful reaction to her taking on the “First Take” host position.

Married since 2019, Jordan took to social media to celebrate his wife’s achievement, suggesting that her journey hasn’t come easily. He posted, “They never made it easy for her,” further praising her resilience, stating that despite the challenges, she managed to succeed on her own terms.

In his comments, he highlighted her approach to the industry, asserting, “She won. Never played their game. Played her game.” He added, “Acts of a true boss. They’re lucky. You can’t keep lowering the stars. She’s a force of nature and will not be denied. I couldn’t be more proud of my Shuwei.”

Jordan, a former basketball player at Notre Dame, has made a name for himself as a college basketball analyst for NBC. He’s also set to serve as a sideline reporter for the upcoming NBA season.

The couple shares two children together.

Shay Cornette was hired after a month-long audition to succeed Molly Kerim, who left “First Take” after a decade at the helm.

Expressing her excitement about the new role, Shay thanked supporters and said she’s eager to embark on this new chapter, with her first episode airing on November 3.

Molly Kerim exited the show in September, and in her farewell message, she reflected on her time there, saying that hosting the show was among the greatest honors of her career, surrounded by exceptional colleagues and passionate fans.

At 39, Shay currently hosts the afternoon edition of “SportsCenter,” in addition to various other programs on TV and radio.

She attributes her success at ESPN, in part, to her husband. “I’m at ESPN because of Jordan,” she remarked in a prior interview, noting how he advocated for her to join the radio team, a move that changed her professional trajectory. “He always believed in me, and I’m forever grateful to have him as my man.”
