As Shannen Dougherty continues her battle with cancer, she’s learning the importance of letting go.
On Sunday’s episode of the podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum revealed that she has certain “dreams” and materialistic things to offer her loved ones an “easier transition.” She is outspoken about the importance of giving up as she continues to undergo treatment for stage 4 breast cancer.
“My priority at the moment is my mother,” she said. “If I die before her, I know it’s going to be difficult for her. It’s going to be very difficult for her, so I just want other things to be easier for her. I don’t want her to have a lot of stuff.’ I don’t want her to have four storage units full of furniture. ”

Doherty said she became “emotional” thinking about everything she was willing to give up after visiting her home in Tennessee where she was fostering abandoned horses.
“So we were in Tennessee, packing up one place there,” she said. “It was really hard and very emotional because I felt like I was giving up in a way on my dream of building this land and building a house for myself and my mom and expanding the barn. is.”

“I started crying as I was packing…I felt like I was giving up on my dreams, but what does that mean to me? Does it mean giving up on life? Throwing in the towel? What do you mean?” My mother was there and she said, “Don’t kick me out, it’s okay. You don’t have to do that, you can keep going.” I said, “Yes, absolutely you can.” ”

After a week, the actress came to the conclusion that letting go of the barn was “the right thing to do.”
“I feel like I’m giving up something that’s very special and important to me,” she explained. “But you know it’s the right thing to do and it brings you a sense of peace and calm, because you’re helping the people you leave behind a cleaner, easier transition.” Because it will happen.”
“I can still keep my dream of helping horses alive,” she added. “I get to live that dream by actually participating in a rescue that is much more capable than I am.”

Ms Doherty admitted that she plans to use the money from selling the coveted items for life experiences.
“None of us really need everything we have. That’s how I used to do all my furniture, but downsizing a little can help me avoid buying up everything I have.” ” she said.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but was in remission in 2017. However, in 2020, her cancer returned.
Last summer, Doherty revealed that her cancer had spread to her brain.
In January, she shared a positive health update about her progress in treatment.
“After four treatments, I didn’t really see any difference, but everyone wanted me to switch, so I was just like, ‘Let’s keep doing this and see what happens.’ “I did,” Doherty said on the podcast.
