Dave Portnoy said he gave Shannon Sharp a favor and was given the “biggest humiliation of my professional career” at the Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans this February.
Monday installments “The barstool is devastated.” The founder of Barstool Sports filmed Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast for two hours, explaining that ESPN’s character was “never aired.”
“Maybe Sharp handled the biggest insult of my professional career. He spiked me into Club Shay Shay. He just spiked it. He never aired,” Portnoy said.
“After spending two hours I gave a favor – my time, I spiked it. It had to spike. Listen, I didn’t think it was great. I didn’t think it would be a spike… I didn’t think it was great, he spiked it.
“What a shame… that’s rude too… you asked me to go there and spend some time, I’ll do it, and you’ll just spike it.”
Portnoy thanked the explanation and said he would lead his conversation about “Club Shay Sheae” not released.
He added that Sharp has a big card and that he asked a lot of questions during the interview.
“He was pretty deep about some of it. I don’t know how much he knows me,” Portnoy said. “He probably didn’t set it up. I don’t know.
“…It was tough to spike…but maybe he’ll let me post it.”
Portnoy added that there was nothing controversial about the conversation, adding that they discussed the Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese debate.
Sharp has not yet addressed the issue publicly.
Portnoy praised Sharpe for how hard he works in the media.
He recalled doing a Sharp podcast after mentioning a civil lawsuit filed by a woman on Sunday under the pseudonym “Jane Doe” in Nevada, which accused tight end of the rape hall of fame.
Portnoy said he didn’t want to elaborate on the situation.
Sharp denied all allegations of coercion or misconduct in a statement Monday through his lawyer.
The ESPN personality named his accuser in a text message document posted to his X account.
Sharp appeared on “First Take” on Tuesday, attending WWE’s “Mondange Night Raw” in Las Vegas after the news broke.
