Shaun Murphy hits 147 in Masters to set up final with Kyren Wilson | Snooker

Sean Murphy made a stunning 147 break to come from behind to beat Mark Allen 6-3 and book a place in the Masters final at Alexandra Palace.

After the reigning world champion defeated current world No. 1 Judd Trump by the same score in Saturday's second semi-final, he will now face Kyren Wilson for the title.

Murphy got off to a slow start, closing the gap after Allen won the first two frames, then made a break of 83 to tie the score at 2-2 midway through the session.

After the restart, Murphy didn't let his “Ally Pally Wasp” look check his momentum and continued to take the lead after a break of 54.

The ball then made a perfect break for the maximum attempt in the next frame. It came two days after 'The Magician' missed his chance by scoring a snooker at 120 in a match against Neil Robertson.

This time, he took his chances as he posted a 147, the sixth in Masters history, giving himself every chance to bag the tournament's record prize money of £15,000.

Once the celebrations had died down and the crowd was on its feet, world No. 4 Allen made a half-century to reduce his arrears to four wins and three losses.

However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed as Murphy scored a 72 to score the next goal and seal the victory after a safety battle.

“It's unbelievable. It was an unbelievable moment and one of the best moments of my snooker career,” Murphy told BBC Sport. “Ever since I was a kid I’ve wanted to score 147 at a BBC event. I had a great opportunity the other day and I completely failed. I had great support from the audience and it was amazing. It was.”

Wilson put on a dominant performance and joined Murphy in the final, capping off a century with a stunning finish that saw him win four consecutive frames.

They took an early 2-0 lead after breaks of 61 and 89 points, but Trump fought back and scored the next three points.

Wilson stepped up a gear in response, scoring runs of 76, 88, 85 and 106 for a memorable victory.

“I'm happy to be in my second Masters final,” Wilson said. “I had to really try. I wasn't 100%, but credit to the crowd for giving me the adrenaline I needed.”

Looking ahead to the fight with Murphy, he added: Sean has been playing great all week. ”
