UCF Knights Offensive Line Coach Sean Clark Passes Away

Sean Clark, the offensive line coach for the UCF Knights, has passed away, just shy of two weeks after a medical emergency required his hospitalization. He was 50 years old.

On September 9th, Clark experienced health complications that kept him away from the team. Although he was reported stable in the hospital last week, the team withheld specific details regarding his condition.

UCF manager Scott Frost expressed his grief in a statement, noting, “Sean was more than a coach. He was an incredible man, husband, and father who cared deeply about his players and staff. The response from our players and coaches this morning highlights the impact he had on everyone he encountered. He was truly loved.”

Clark joined UCF after spending five years as the head coach of the Appalachian Mountaineers, his alma mater. During his tenure at Appalachian from 2019 to 2024, he achieved a record of 40 wins against 24 losses and led the team to three bowl game victories.

The Appalachian State community has expressed its sorrow over Clark’s passing, extending condolences to his family and all who knew and cherished him. His contributions to football were significant, and he is remembered fondly by many.

Clark began his coaching journey back in 2001 as a graduate assistant for the Louisville Cardinals. His career spanned various positions, including offensive line coach for teams like Eastern Kentucky, Purdue, and Kent State, before ultimately becoming the head coach at Appalachian State.
