‘She Has No Role in This Process’

On Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) appeared on FNC's “Hannity” and threw himself into the state's storm preparedness as Category 5 Hurricane Milton approaches the Sunshine State. He blamed Vice President Kamala Harris.

DeSantis responded: Comment from Harriscalled the Florida governor “selfish” to a reporter.

“[F]Or trying to say, like Kamala Harris, that I'm somehow selfish in focusing only on the people of Florida is delusional,” he said. “She has no role in this. In fact, she has been vice president for three and a half years and has dealt with a number of challenges under this administration. She has contributed nothing to these efforts. So what I think is selfish – trying to be careless about this – understand, and here's the thing – she has no role – I know, She has no role in this process, I'm in contact with the President of the United States. I'm in contact with the FEMA Director. We obviously control the lower state agencies. We support local governments, and let me just say this: I've been through storms under both President Trump and President Biden, and I've worked well with both presidents.”

“She's the first one trying to politicize this storm, and she's just doing it for her own campaign. She's trying to get some sort of advantage. She's trying to politicize this storm. She knows her grades are bad, so she has no time for political games. There are people whose lives and property are at risk. There are people at risk, and we're 100% focused on that mission. I'm not worried about her playing politics. It’s selfish of her to try to screw up something like this when she’s doing it.”
