Speaking on CNN's “Inside Politics” on Thursday, Mitch Landrieu, co-chair of the Harris-Waltz campaign, said that 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris is “her own person,” but “she helped President Joe Biden accomplish everything he did while she was in office, and I think she's proud of that.” He added, “For people who don't like Joe Biden, one of the reasons they don't like him is not because of his policies, but because they think he's too old, and they've repeated that over and over.”
Landrieu said, “Joe Biden will go down in history as one of the most important presidents in American history. She was his vice president and helped him accomplish all the things she accomplished during the Biden administration. I think she's proud of that, but no one should be blind to the fact that she has her own personality. That's the point she was trying to make to Donald Trump. For people who didn't like Joe Biden, one of the reasons they didn't like him was not because of his policies, but because they thought he was too old, and they've repeated that over and over. And by the way, they think that about Donald Trump, too. So what Kamala Harris is doing, by her very presence and her skill, is telling people that now is the time for a new movement forward.” And I think there's a consciousness in America, among Republicans, Democrats, independents, that they're tired of the old songs sung by Donald Trump about how bad America is, how terrible everything is, that when he was president, you had to wake up every day and think, 'What the hell did that guy do today, what is he going to do to hurt us tomorrow?' They want to turn the page. And I think, obviously, they're making a rough distinction between Donald Trump and Joe Biden on that issue.”
He continued, “But there were a number of policies that Joe Biden supported that we talked about, many of which were very, very popular with the American people.”
