A single man in Michigan nearly gave up on dating altogether after a woman he met on an online dating app committed a robbery during their date, earning her the nickname “felony Melanie” and calling her “mentally unwell.” '' he said in a viral video. After reviewing the restaurant's security footage, he became convinced that the mystery of what really happened and why his eyes were slightly red may have finally been solved.
Influencer Ryan Michael Annese said, “One of the worst experiences of my life. Internet dating could be a vacation.” The dating nightmare story went viral on TikTok, racking up more than 3 million views.
“I don't think any of you will ever top this. It made me almost quit doing it because of the plot, but I'm not going to quit that easily,” he said. (Doing it for intrigue is Gen Z slang for making decisions that add excitement or drama to a person's life, regardless of the potential negative consequences.)
Annese took her date to the Chinese restaurant they always go to. When Annese arrived at the restaurant, she discovered the first of what would become a treasure trove of red flags for the day.

TikTok named the robbery date “Felony Melanie.”
“Felon Melanie” tells him she doesn't like Chinese food. When Annese suggested they go somewhere else, he said there was no need and that he was a “people pleaser.”
“She said, 'It's okay. I'm used to showing people.' Let's go, that's a red flag,” he said.
“People who say, “I reflect people'' are the scariest,'' said one comment with 8,000 likes.

Annese then excused herself to go to the bathroom, but when she returned, her phone was dead for five minutes. At the time, he just let it go and didn't think about it much. I thought maybe he had accidentally tapped the passcode while eating.
But later he said, “My phone was disabled for 5 minutes instead of just 1 minute. So someone tried my passcode and it was disabled for 1 minute and then tried again. That's what I realized.

Annese's date then asked her about World War III and whether she thought women should be drafted into the military.
“I was like, hmm, conspiracy theorist. This is weird. I honestly didn't know how to react,” he said.
After a while, her date asked if she wanted to take her home with him.
“So, are you ready to go back to where you were?” his date said.
Annese wasn't feeling it, so she made up an excuse to get out of there. “I’m a little tired, so I think I should go home now.”
His response “infuriated” Melanie.
“She was like, 'Whatever, I have another date after this, so it doesn't matter. I'm going.' I'm just like, 'Whatever, you weirdo.'
So Melanie left and Annese put cash on the table and paid the bill.
“This is the absolute kicker, but I don't know if you guys are ready for it,” he said.
Then, at some point, Annese's regular restaurant contacted her to say she hadn't been paid for her previous meal.

But Annese was sure he had paid for it. The restaurant then examined security footage from that day, which showed the man trying to unlock his phone, confirming his suspicions. The footage also showed her returning to the restaurant and taking her cash after the man left.
“She came back and took the money off the table. Not only that, she tried to unlock my phone while I was in the bathroom and tried to put it under her feet. “It was caught on camera. Go straight to jail. That's what she needs to do. I really don't want to be arrested,” he said. “She thought, 'Why did she put my phone under her?' So she went to the doctor right away.” I'll talk about that. [with my phone to my face]. ”

“Well, I'm panicking right now because I'm waiting to hear from the doctor. But do I look a little red in your eyes?” He pointed and said. “If this guy actually farted on my phone and caught sight of me, I would go insane.”
TikTok users flocked to the scene, with some wondering if “Felon Melanie” wanted to return to her home to increase her chances of getting more stolen goods, rather than snatching the man.
“I feel like she was trying to get home with you to rob you,” said one comment with 23,000 likes.
“I'm not surprised,” Aneth replied.
Other users said they thought the person they were dating was trying to hack into their phone to send money to them from online banking apps like Cash App or Venmo.
