‘She Should Be Working for CNN’

President Donald Trump fired another volley against his founding media enemy Fox News and the White House Correspondents Association on Wednesday.

Trump has become socially true, specifically target Fox News Senior White House correspondent Jackie Heinrich.

“I saw Fox's Jackie Heinrich over the weekend and thought she was absolutely terrible. She should work for CNN, not Fox,” Trump posted. “Unsurprisingly, I later learned that she is a fan of the White House Correspondents Association!”

Heinrich developed a militant relationship with the Trump administration.

She took on the White House in February after taking a series of actions to increase transparency and grant access to additional media outlets, allowing “new media” access to the White House briefing room in particular, and controlling the outlets allowed in the White House pool.

Heinrich's employer, Fox News, is one of only a handful of outlets with previous strangleholds over White House access through membership in the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA).

Heinrich protested the move, which broke the WHCA monopoly as a White House gatekeeper, claiming that the WHCA, which previously chose the White House press corps, is democratically elected by those members.

“This move doesn't empower people – it empowers the White House,” said Heinrich, a member of the WHCA board. Posted X.

“The WHCA has been determining pools for decades, because only representatives from our outlets can determine the resources that all outlets have, such as staffing, to the largest audience possible, regardless of the day or time.”

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt has made it clear that Fox News will not lose access, but other organizations will win the same Access Fox News and the outlets that have selected the few WHCAs that they previously enjoyed themselves.

“We will continue to rotate between the five major television networks to ensure that the president's statements are widely heard in this world,” she said, adding, “We will add streaming services that reach audiences that are different from traditional cable and broadcast.”
