Shedeur Sanders faced some scrutiny from reporters in Cleveland during a recent visit to John Marshall High School. There, he expressed his ambition to bring the city’s first Super Bowl victory.
This trip quickly gained traction on social media, although not all responses were positive. Radio host Aaron Goldhammer seemed particularly unimpressed.
“It felt like he was trying a bit too hard. Almost like he was showcasing his accomplishments—attending school and doing the right things,” Goldhammer commented on his show.
One of Sanders’s friends, known as “Boog” Knight, who co-hosts a podcast with Travis Hunter, was annoyed by these criticisms. He pointed out that it was Sanders’s choice not to post anything online about the visit, nor did he orchestrate the abundance of media coverage. “He’s visited schools before; this is nothing new,” Knight stated.
Sanders’s standing in the NFL Draft took a turn when he was selected 144th overall in the fifth round, which surprised many. Controversies have followed him since his college days, and reports about the draft process were far from flattering. One coach even described his interview as “the worst,” claiming he was capable, but perhaps not exceptional.
The Browns drafted Sanders, despite having chosen Oregon’s Bo Nix earlier in the draft and with quarterbacks Deshaun Watson, Kenny Pickett, and Joe Flacco already on the roster.
