Shedeur Sanders, Malik Nabers play catch in NYC streets

Shedur Sanders threw Malik Nabors the first of what could be hundreds of passes.

Sanders, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Nabers, the Giants' standout rookie receiver, played catch on the streets of New York on Friday as cameras recorded Sanders' every move. did.

Nabors, accompanied by his close friend from the Giants, defensive back Isaiah Simmons, met up with Sanders in the city, who was in town for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.

Sanders is not a finalist, but his Colorado teammate and close friend, two-way standout Travis Hunter, is the favorite.

Another video shows Sanders holding a football emblazoned with the Giants logo in an elevator.

According to ESPN's Football Power Index, the Giants (2-11) have an NFL-best 41 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick.

The Raiders have the same record but an easier schedule the rest of the way, which could lead to a win, while the Giants are on their way to a franchise-record 12-game losing streak at the end of the season.

Nabors said earlier this week that he had no personal relationship with Sanders, but that they had played against each other in the finals of a 7-on-7 tournament at a football camp hosted by Deion Sanders (Shedour's father).

That was before they achieved college star status at LSU and the University of Colorado, respectively.

The Giants do not have a quarterback under contract for next season, but they do have exclusive rights to Tommy DeVito, who will start for the second time this season against the Ravens on Sunday.

Drew Lock and Tim Boyle are free agents, and Daniel Jones will take up $22.2 million in salary cap dead space.

Asked about the future of the Giants' quarterback position after Jones is cut, Nabors said, “I just want the ball. As long as you give me the ball, I'm fine with that.”

Sanders had no problem giving Hunter a 92-catch, 1,152-yard, 14-touchdown season.

Miami's Cam Ward, who is competing with Sanders to be the first quarterback taken in the draft, is a Heisman finalist and praised Neighbors during a media appearance Friday.

“Guys who can win 50-50 balls and win man coverage know the weak spots in the zone,” Ward said. “If I have a chance to play with him, he's going to make me even better. There's a reason he's the No. 1 receiver.”
