Skip Bayless, a sports commentator, recently made some controversial comments regarding the NFL team after Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders debuted in a preseason game on Friday night. Bayless expressed his disbelief that Sanders had been picked so late, after the Browns chose other players earlier in the draft.
During the game, Bayless remarked, “Tonight, Shedeur Sanders made the entire National Football League look like a bunch of fools. He has shamed all the teams that could have drafted him before the Browns ultimately picked him in the fifth round.” While he did not specify why he felt the league came across as “foolish,” he claimed that he has always supported Sanders.
The storyline surrounding Sanders’ drop in the draft became a significant talking point, stirring debate as to how he was considered a low-value pick despite his college success. “The biggest dishonor in NFL history was thinking that Shedeur needed to be taught a lesson about interviews and performance,” Bayless stated.
Although Sanders has performed well and managed to secure two touchdown passes and 138 passing yards in his game against the Carolina Panthers, the Browns haven’t finalized their quarterback lineup. Four players, including Deshaun Watson, who is currently on injured reserve, are vying for a spot on the roster.
