Shedeur Sanders speaks out on the quarterback competition with the Browns.

Shedeur Sanders is well aware of the long list of quarterbacks who have struggled in Cleveland over the years.

“Browns fans just want something, and it seems like they’ve been waiting forever,” Sanders mentioned on the team’s website. “And now I’m here to change that. I’m here to deliver what they’re looking for.”

Since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders has remained positive and encouraging. However, his recent comments reveal his thoughts on the impending competition for the starting quarterback position this summer.

The former Colorado standout seems to be in the running for the starting spot, joining veteran Joe Flacco, former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.

Current starter Deshaun Watson might not play this season due to injuries, having undergone two surgeries on his ruptured right Achilles tendon.

Sanders received a notable opportunity at minicamp last week, taking snaps behind Gabriel, although Browns coach Kevin Stefanski downplayed its significance.

This outspoken quarterback aims to transform the franchise, echoing sentiments he expressed during his time at Jackson State and Colorado before the draft.

As the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, he expressed ambitions of emulating Tom Brady’s success as a late-round pick.

“I’m here to work and win,” he stated. “I believe everything off the field will fall into place. I want to be known for my character and my intent to change the franchise.”

With the season still months away, Sanders focuses on immersing himself in the Browns’ culture and building strong relationships.

He emphasizes that he aims to be a supportive teammate.

“I’ve faced this moment every year… at this point, it doesn’t feel unfamiliar,” he remarked. “I know I can come here, learn, establish myself, and be a great teammate. I’ve addressed any lingering issues and concerns.”

“This is my environment now; I have the resources I need here… I don’t think anything is too overwhelming.”
