The Browns’ Shelby Harris clashed with 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings after Jennings reportedly provoked him.
Cleveland faced a tough loss, falling to San Francisco by a score of 26-8, which put their record at 3-9.
The frustration continued as Browns defensive lineman Maliek Collins left the game with an injury in the third quarter.
Harris mentioned that Jennings was trash-talking him before being taken away. He didn’t take it lightly.
“He’s not a good guy, and I want him to know that,” Harris expressed to reporters. “I get why he got hit in the stomach; he said things that cross the line. Just shouldn’t say to another guy. But to say that and then hide behind the offensive line? I can’t respect that—it’s just wrong. I’m honestly surprised no one has punched him yet.”
Harris’s comments came after an earlier incident involving Jennings and Panthers defensive back Trevon Mehrig, where Mehrig appeared to deliver a below-the-belt hit.
After that game, Jennings pursued Mehrig and struck him in the face, leading to Mehrig being suspended for a game without pay, while Jennings faced a fine exceeding $12,000.
Myers Garrett, a star on the Browns, also had words about Jennings, though his tone was more measured.
“I can’t comment on his upbringing,” Garrett said. He added that Jennings made “demeaning and derogatory” comments to several Browns players during the match.
In the end, Jennings tallied four receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown, helping the 49ers improve to a 9-4 record.
