Reports indicate that an Ohio Sheriff is considering potential criminal charges against Ashland County Democrats. This follows an incident at the county fair where attendees found buttons promoting a message that seems to wish for President Donald Trump’s demise.
One visitor mentioned his discomfort with the button’s message, claiming it read, “he is still dead.” After several warnings to remove the buttons, the sheriff’s department decided to escort the booth away from the fair.
Ashland County Sheriff Kurt Schneider described the buttons, one featuring a red cap with the word “felon” and another stating “Is he still dead?” He also referenced a numeric code, 86-47, which he interpreted as relating to the president’s elimination. “These references are concerning as they target the President of the United States,” Schneider stated.
In a social media post, Rep. Josh Williams noted the discontent surrounding the buttons, criticizing Democrats for their actions in one of Ohio’s most Republican counties. He remarked, “This is not politics…”
Some fairgoers expressed disappointment about the situation. One commented, “It’s the exact opposite of what we need in our country now.”
Schneider informed the Secret Service of the situation, suggesting that the buttons’ message could be perceived as threatening. “Everyone can say anything, but what are the consequences of those words?” he asked.
In response, the Ashland County Democrats claimed they have been unfairly censored by Republican members of the County Fair Commission, aided by two deputies. They shared parallels to historical instances of power abuse in their statement.
While acknowledging the inappropriateness of the buttons, they expressed regret for not better considering the emotional state of the community, especially in light of recent violent incidents.
The Democrats did not provide a comment when approached for further details.
In other developments, a recent poll by Napolitan News Service highlighted a surprising sentiment among Democrats, suggesting that 24% felt the country is “better” following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Previous polls have shown a significant number of left-leaning individuals believe figures like Elon Musk and Trump are somewhat justified in their actions.
