Sheriff’s Warning in Travis Decker Manhunt
The search for Travis Decker, who stands accused of murdering his three daughters, is being led by Chelan County Sheriff Michael Morrison. There’s concern that someone might unwittingly assist him, which adds an unsettling layer to this already tragic situation.
As the 32-year-old homeless veteran remains on the run nearly three weeks after his daughters went missing, Sheriff Morrison has issued a stern caution. Decker was reportedly found choked near his vehicle in a campsite in Washington state.
When asked about the possibility of Decker receiving help while evading capture, Sheriff Morrison mentioned that it’s possible he could have planned ahead. “I’m not sure,” he said. “But you have to consider he might have set aside some supplies.” He expressed frustration, commenting, “There are a few things that could seem sympathetic to his cause, which I think is misguided.”
The sheriff underscored the seriousness of the situation, reminding the public that Decker has been charged with multiple counts of murder. “He’s dangerous,” he noted, urging those who might sympathize with him to allow law enforcement to do their jobs.
Decker took his daughters, aged 5, 8, and 9, to visit his parents on May 30 but never returned them to his mother’s home in Wenatchee, Washington. Their bodies were discovered on June 2, one of them found with a plastic bag and zip tie around her wrist near Decker’s abandoned vehicle.
There are still voices echoing from the past, claiming he wasn’t in danger, which adds a confusing layer to this already distressing case. Sheriff Morrison expressed hope that Decker would surrender and face justice.
Authorities have collected significant evidence from Decker’s truck found near a remote campground, which includes traces of both human and non-human blood. Additionally, Decker’s dog was discovered at the scene and has since been given to a local humane society.
Recently, a TikTok video surfaced where Sheriff Morrison appeared to suggest that Decker had been arrested after an extended confrontation with police. However, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office clarified that Decker remains at large and that their office played no role in the video.
To encourage tips, a reward of $20,000 has been announced for information leading directly to Decker’s arrest. Authorities warn the public that he is considered armed and dangerous, advising anyone who sees him to contact 911 immediately rather than approach him directly.
