Sherri Shepherd hopes Chris Brown will join her talk show

Sheri Shepherd Open to Interview Chris Brown

Sheri Shepherd is keen to have Chris Brown on her daytime talk show.

During a recent interview, she mentioned that Brown, who is 36, is the next high-profile guest she wants to feature on her show. This came up during a conversation with Jonathan Major in March.

“I want to interview Chris Brown, but I anticipate a lot of backlash,” she shared in an interview with Vulture released on Friday.

“Sometimes, backlash is part of the job,” Shepherd added. “I was prepared for it with Jonathan.”

Brown’s legal troubles started back in 2009 when he was arrested and pleaded guilty to felony assault for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

His turbulent history recently came under scrutiny in a 2024 Investigation Discovery documentary, “Chris Brown: A History of Violence,” where several women came forward with allegations against him. One woman claimed that he raped her on a yacht owned by Sean “Diddy” Combs in Miami back in 2020.

Brown has denied all accusations. Furthermore, the “Eternal” singer is suing Warner Bros. for $500 million related to documentaries.

In July, he pleaded not guilty to several charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly assaulted a music producer with a bottle at a London nightclub in 2023.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Major had his own legal issues, having been arrested in New York City in March 2023 due to a dispute with his girlfriend, Grace Jabari.

He faced misdemeanor assault and harassment charges but was spared prison time, receiving a sentence that included a year of domestic violence counseling. Major’s legal troubles have affected his career, notably impacting his role as the character “Kang.”

When he appeared on Shepherd’s show earlier this year, he moved her to tears while discussing bodybuilder Killian Maddox and the support—or lack thereof—from some of his Hollywood peers regarding his comeback.

In her conversation with Vulture, Shepherd expressed her decision to invite Major onto the show to share “his side of the story.”

“I’ve always been a fan of Jonathan Major. He’s a talented actor,” she remarked. “I don’t have formal journalism training, so I’ll just be asking, ‘How is this happening? What’s next?’ I genuinely wanted to hear from him.”

“I believe in grace and second chances,” Shepherd continued. “I want to provide a space where he can express his feelings.”

Furthermore, she mentioned her admiration for Major’s wife, saying, “I want to honor her, especially since many hold strong opinions about her connection with Jonathan. I hope to give people a chance to see a different side of him.”
