Trump Responds to O’Donnell’s Comments
President Donald Trump addressed remarks made by actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, suggesting that his first term had negatively impacted her mental well-being, leading to issues like overeating and drinking. He mentioned that “she’s confused.”
When asked by reporters about O’Donnell’s statements during her appearance on Chris Cuomo’s podcast—where she claimed it was a “good thing” she self-reported to Ireland and left the U.S.—Trump responded.
“Rosie O’Donnell went on Chris Cuomo’s show,” a reporter said. “I think you were blamed for her being overweight, depressed, and drunk. What are your thoughts?”
“I don’t know about Rosie. I see Rosie, Rosie, pretty confused,” Trump replied. “She’s a mess. She’s out of our country, which is a good thing, not a bad one.”
Previously, Paul Bois from Breitbart News had shared during a conversation with Cuomo that O’Donnell had labeled Trump as “very difficult to deal with” and revealed that she was “very, very depressed.”
O’Donnell spoke about her mental health struggles on the podcast. “I was very depressed. I was eating too much. I felt overwhelmed,” she said. “It hurt me that America believed lies about him, and it broke my heart to see a business profiting from those lies.”
Trump’s comments on O’Donnell’s podcast appearance followed an earlier post where he indicated that he was “seriously considering” revoking her citizenship, describing her as a “threat to humanity.”
“I’m seriously thinking about taking away her citizenship because Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our great nation,” Trump wrote. “She poses a threat to humanity, and if they want her, they should let her stay in the great country of Ireland. God bless America!”
In response to Trump’s remarks regarding her citizenship, O’Donnell took to Instagram, expressing her fears. She described herself as a “voracious woman,” a “strange woman,” and a “truth-telling mother.”
“Hey Donald—are you rattled again? Eighteen years later, I still live rent-free in your chaotic mind,” O’Donnell posted on Instagram. “You call me a threat to humanity, but I’m everything you fear. Big women are, after all, strange women.”
