Shia LaBeouf Arrested in New Orleans
Shia LaBeouf addressed the situation on Wednesday, just under a day after his arrest for simple assault in New Orleans. He posted a brief message on social media saying, “Please release me” shortly after 2 a.m. Earlier, the “Transformers” actor had been seen enjoying Mardi Gras festivities, even dancing on Bourbon Street with what appeared to be a release paper in his mouth.
His day took a wild turn when he was involved in a bar fight in the Faubourg Marigny area. Reports indicated that around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, police were alerted to an incident where two men were assaulted in the 1400 block of Royal Street, prompting a response from the New Orleans Police Department.
Witnesses claimed that LaBeouf “caused a disturbance” and grew increasingly aggressive at the establishment. Attempts by staff to get him to leave became physically tense, with LaBeouf reportedly pushing his fist at one victim on multiple occasions.
The situation escalated when he briefly left but later returned and was even more aggressive. Multiple people attempted to restrain him outside the store, but he proved difficult to manage. At one point, he allegedly punched a victim in the upper body before another incident where he struck someone else in the nose.
Eventually, police detained LaBeouf until they arrived at the scene. He was taken to a hospital for unspecified injuries, after which he was arrested and charged with two counts of simple assault. His representative has not yet commented on the matter.
This isn’t LaBeouf’s first brush with the law. Previously, he faced charges for misdemeanors related to battery and theft in 2020, which led him to attend anger management therapy and monitor his alcohol consumption.
LaBeouf has also been entangled in controversy surrounding his ex-girlfriend, FKA Twigs. In a lawsuit from 2020, she made serious allegations including sexual assault and emotional distress, detailing abusive behavior during their relationship. LaBeouf has denied many of these claims, stating he was focused on healing from his own struggles.
FKA Twigs, whose real name is Talia Barnett, met LaBeouf during the filming of “Honey Boy.” They had a brief relationship but broke up in 2019.
