Shilo Sanders signed with Buccaneers after being ignored in NFL draft

Shiro Sanders had to wait longer than his free-fal brother to find his new NFL team.

The brother of Colorado’s safe and quarterback Shedur Sanders signed as a free agent with the Buccaneers on Saturday night after not being selected for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Shedeur Sanders was considered one of the top players available in the draft, but he continued on until the Browns grabbed him in five rounds with a No. 144 overall pick.

“You’re both resilient,” his father and NFL legend Deion Sanders told his sons in a convulsion from a Texas family home on Saturday’s family livestream.

“They tested this draft on us,” Shiro Sanders said.

Shiro Sanders also hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent over the weekend.

Shiro played his first two college seasons in South Carolina before transferring to Colorado as a junior when his father and siblings switched from Jackson State.

The 25-year-old defensive back appeared in 21 games over two seasons at Buffalo, with 99 solo tackles (three losses), one interception and one sack.

Shiro Sanders also forced six fumbles and recovered three, including one that returned to a touchdown, but he was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in late February.

“Turovers win the game,” Sanders wrote to X on Tuesday prior to the draft. “Someone is getting a DAWG this week! Trust me.”

Shiro Sanders, who signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus, was Colorado’s third leading tackler last year despite missing three games with his broken forearm in September.

He also left two college seasons after suffering from a torn ACL in 2022.

“I’m grateful,” Deion Sanders added during the Twitch stream. “Tampa is a great place.”

Shiro Sanders said during the live stream that former Pro Bowl safety Ryan Clark was also not drafted “just like me” before playing 13 NFL seasons.

Clark’s son, Notre Dame defensive back Jordan Clark, also signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.
