In a broad daylight attack in Brooklyn, a man who appeared to be homeless slashed two men for throwing trash, authorities said.
Surveillance camera footage shows the gunman, without a shirt, rifling through trash and throwing items on the ground on Garden Street near Flushing Avenue in Bushwick around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. , two men, aged 59 and 28, stopped him. said the police officer.
That's when the shirtless garbage man turned violent, pulling out two knives and beheading an elderly man and slashing a younger man in the right thigh, police and sources said.
Both men were taken to Woodhull Medical Center where they were listed in stable condition.
Surveillance photos obtained by the newspaper show the shirtless attacker walking down the sidewalk with what appeared to be a black garbage bag slung over his shoulder.
Police say no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
