Driver Crashes Into Dollar Tree Amid Mother’s Day Incident
In South Carolina, a driver’s reckless behavior made headlines when he crashed into a Dollar Tree store on Mother’s Day. The incident occurred in the parking lot, where a confrontation unfolded involving two adults and three teenagers.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, chaos erupted in the Dollar Tree parking lot on Sumter Highway in Bishopville. Reports indicated that a 17-year-old was involved in an altercation with a 15-year-old, which escalated dramatically. The teenager drove his vehicle into the store’s walls, and after that, somehow managed to roll the car out and collide with another vehicle parked nearby.
Surprisingly, the 15-year-old who was initially attacked did not sustain serious injuries. However, authorities noted that the driver faced severe consequences for his actions, being charged with attempted murder, disorderly conduct, and property damage. Notably, he will be treated as an adult in court.
Law enforcement also arrested two adults, 19-year-old Selvin Hickman and 24-year-old Shamira Blyser, on disorderly conduct charges, with Hickman facing additional malicious property injury charges. Additionally, three teenagers were taken into custody linked to the brawl.
A local business employee, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that the incident has noticeably affected the community. “It’s just unsettling,” the employee remarked. “People seem more hesitant to shop around here after what happened.”
Sheriff Daniel Simon expressed deep concern over youth behavior nowadays, saying, “Youth these days… don’t cherish life. This kid used his car as a weapon. It’s frightening to think what he could have done with something more lethal.” The store has been closed since the event, suffering damages estimated around $10,000.
