Shocking video shows pregnant woman attacked by pit bull in front of her kids

Dramatic video captures the moment an eight-month pregnant Dallas woman was attacked by a pit bull in front of her two frightened young children.

Reyna Gutierrez and her children were walking home to the Tides at Highland Meadows apartment complex on Amanda Lane around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when the dog attacked her. WFAA reported.

“I couldn’t do anything,” she told the outlet in Spanish after being surprised by the animal. “I tried to put her son’s backpack on.”

Video from the family’s home surveillance camera shows the dog attacking Gutierrez while her 6-year-old daughter jumps on the hood of the car and her 9-year-old son runs toward the house.

A good Samaritan ran to his aid, but the dog also attacked him.

The video then shows a man, believed to be the pit bull’s owner, putting the bull on a leash.

Gutierrez’s husband, Eric Rojas, said he heard from a neighbor that the owner took the dog away when police arrived. NBC DFW reported.

Gutierrez suffered bite wounds on both arms and was treated at a hospital, police told the outlet. She said she was hospitalized for 24 hours to monitor her fetus.

Gutierrez told WFAA on Wednesday that she was still afraid to go outside after the horrific attack.

“What would have happened if it hadn’t been me, if it had been one of the kids?” I can’t bear to watch the video. I feel scared,” she said, adding that the man who rushed to her aid injured her in the abdomen.

Dallas animal services officials visited the facility on Wednesday and knocked on several doors looking for the dog’s owner, the newspaper said.

Neighbors say the owner lives in the area, but they don’t know who it is.

No arrests have been made during the ongoing investigation.

“I just want people to be responsible,” Gutierrez told WFAA. “How can I take my dog outside without a leash if I know he’s aggressive?”
