Shohei Ohtani’s skills have carried over to the National League.
Ohtani, playing in his first MLB All-Star Game as a member of the Dodgers, gave the National League the lead over the American League with a three-run homer in the third inning of Tuesday’s game at Globe Life Field.
The two-way star walked Orioles ace Corbin Burnes in the top of the first inning before taking to the mound in the top of the second with Jurickson Profar and Ketel Marte on base.
Leading 2-0 against Red Sox pitcher Tanner Hack, Ohtani hit the third pitch of the at-bat at 103.7 mph, 400 feet to right-center field.
He hit a home run in the All-Star Game and became the first Dodgers player to do so since Mike Piazza in 1996, when he won MVP honors.
It was Ohtani’s second hit in an All-Star Game after he singled and walked in the 2022 Midsummer Classic at Dodger Stadium.
Ohtani has appeared in the All-Star game every year since 2021.
