LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani hit a game-winning grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and stole his 40th base before hitting his 40th career home run in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 7-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.
The Japanese superstar became just the sixth player in major league history to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season, the fastest in the history of the sport.

He is also the first Dodgers player to do so.
He broke the record set by Alfonso Soriano in 148 games for the Washington Nationals in 2006.
Ohtani accomplished that in 129 games.
In the fourth inning, Ohtani reached base with an infield single off leadoff batter Tyler Alexander and then stole second base during Freddie Freeman’s at-bat.
