Security forces at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (JBSA) returned fire early Saturday morning after at least one vehicle-driven suspect allegedly fired shots at the main gate of the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex, a JBSA spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
Officers received shots from at least one suspect in a sedan around 4:30 a.m. and quickly returned fire. No injuries were reported and the gates were closed for several hours.
It is unclear how many shooters were involved or how many shots were fired at the base.
“There was no actual threat to the facility… our security forces responded to mitigate the threat,” spokeswoman Stephanie Antosh said, noting the suspects did not attempt to breach the gates.

Antosh said officers from the San Antonio Police Department also arrived on scene to assist with the investigation.
The motive for the shooting is unclear.
The JBSA-Chapman Training Annex entrance gate was closed and reopened around 9:30 a.m. local time, with drivers directed to use the alternate gate located north of the main gate on Ray Ellison Boulevard.
