A gunman opened fire at Joint Base San Antonio. (JBSA) A fire at an Air Force base in Texas led to a shootout with security guards.

According to a JBSA spokesperson: Fox News DigitalJoint Base San Antonio-Lackland (JBSA) security personnel opened fire early Saturday morning on at least one vehicle-borne suspect who was suspected of firing shots toward the main gate of the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex.
At about 4:30 a.m., at least one suspect in a sedan opened fire on officers, who quickly returned fire. The gates were closed for several hours, but no injuries were reported.
It is unclear how many gunmen fired at the base or how many shots were fired.
“There was no actual threat to the facility… our security forces responded to mitigate the threat,” spokeswoman Stephanie Antosh said, noting the suspects did not attempt to breach the gates.
Antosh said officers from the San Antonio Police Department also showed up to assist with the investigation.
The motive for the shooting is unclear.
The JBSA-Chapman Training Annex entrance gate reopened after being closed around 9:30 a.m. local time, and drivers were advised to use the alternate gate on Ray Ellison Boulevard, north of the main gate.
