Shooting at Las Vegas Athletic Club gym results in 2 deaths and 3 injuries

In a shooting at a gym in Las Vegas on Friday afternoon, two individuals, including the suspect, lost their lives, and at least three others were injured, according to local police.

One victim was confirmed dead at the Las Vegas Athletic Club on the city’s west side, as stated by Andrew Walsh from the Metropolitan Police.

The suspect’s death was also reported at a local hospital, as indicated in a police social media update.

Despite a heavy police presence on North Rainbow Boulevard, Walsh assured that there was no ongoing threat to the community.

Three individuals were transported to a hospital, with one in critical condition, as noted by a police spokesman during a news conference.

Authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the incident.

A witness named Claudio Vigani, who was inside the gym when the shots rang out, recounted, “They shouted, ‘Go out, go out, go out, go outside.’ Then I saw the dead man next to the machine.”

Gary Steward, another gym-goer, shared that he and others stopped at a nutrition store, which he believes saved their lives. Had they continued on, they might have been near the front desk where the shooting occurred.

As they made their way back to the gym, they noticed the sound of breaking glass outside.

“It feels strange right now,” Steward commented. “It’s just bizarre. Who would imagine a shooting would happen at a gym?”

Attempts to reach the Athletic Club and its corporate offices for comments were unsuccessful. The University Medical Center confirmed it had received four patients, one of whom was in critical condition.
