The 49ers have one more shot.
Four years after San Francisco lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami in Super Bowl LIV, the 49ers are back with a new quarterback, a new game plan and a chipped shoulder.
It could be a full-circle moment. The 2020 Super Bowl marked the beginning of Patrick Mahomes’ empire. Since then, the Chiefs have appeared in all but one Super Bowl and won another ring last year with a hard-fought victory over Philadelphia.
Now, Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and Kyle Shanahan have a chance to stop the Chiefs’ emerging dynasty in its tracks and make history as the winners of Super Bowl III, which begins in just over a week. February 11th, Las Vegas.
