You’ve seen us on screen, but have you ever thought about what we look like off camera?
Over the past few months, I’ve been having fun checking in with your favorite Fox personalities to find out who they are behind the scenes.
What Jesse Watters can’t live without? What is Bill Hemmer’s favorite Halloween costume? And what’s on Greg Gutfeld’s nightstand? ?
But that’s not all! The fun is just beginning.
This week we’re excited to spotlight a field correspondent based in Los Angeles Max Gaulden of Fox Weather.
Prior to joining the company in 2021, he spent three years as a multimedia journalist at KPHO-TV (CBS/Meredith) in Phoenix, Arizona. A graduate of New York University, Gorden holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and English.
PS We have many other options available. Stay tuned every week for a new edition of “Dana Perino’s Short Questions.” If you have any questions you’d like answered or suggestions for who we should interview next, please leave a note in the comments section below.
This week, Dana Perino speaks with Fox Weather’s Max Gaulden. Max Gorden shares the best advice he ever received, what he wanted to be when he grew up, and how he defines “my favorite assignment” at work. (Fox News)
Q: Let’s start with a little background. Where are you from? Where did you go to school? What regional markets did you work in before joining Fox?
I’m originally from a small town in Northern California called Sebastopol. I went to school at New York University and then worked in Wausau, Wisconsin, Austin, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona before joining FOX Weather.
Q: Since you started working here at Fox, you’ve covered a lot of big stories. What is your favorite job so far and why?
I got to participate in so many adventures with FOX Weather. From flying stunt planes to traveling to remote Alaskan glaciers to interviewing a man who attempts to recreate his escape from Alcatraz by swimming across San Francisco Bay.
My favorite job is one that allows me to bring amazing photography and unique stories to my audience.
Q: I live in the heart of Hollywood and I’m curious – what are your absolute go-tos? favorite movie forever?
“The Big Lebowski” — You can watch that movie a million times.
“My favorite part of the job is being able to bring great photography and unique stories to audiences.”
Q: If you could be any character in a movie, who would you be and why?
Matt Damon from “The Martian” is my choice.
He maintains a sense of humor and is able to use his intelligence to avoid situations where others would give up.
Q: Hollywood isn’t just home to movie stars. There are quite a few rock stars as well. If you could invite three musicians, living or dead, to a dinner party where you and your girlfriend could collaborate on songs together, who would you choose?
I would like to invite Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash to the Highwaymen reunion.
Q: What is the best advice you have ever received?
My grandmother always said, “Buy tickets, not things.” That way, you can prioritize experience over acquiring lots of stuff.
Q: Let’s focus on technology and innovation. In your opinion, what stands out as the greatest invention to come out of Silicon Valley?
The iPhone revolutionized the way we communicate and the way we work in the field as journalists.
You can now hear the control room as you research stories, send scripts, shoot photos and videos, and dial in for live shoots. I can’t imagine working without my (two) iPhones.
Q: Follow me – What is one app you have on your phone that might not be on mine?
You should definitely download it Fox Weather app.
“If you put your mind to it, you can make pretty good chicken parmesan.”
Q: Who is your favorite person to follow on Twitter?
My mom, mostly because she’s my mom, doesn’t actually post tweets.
Q: When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to follow in my parents’ footsteps and become a firefighter.
Q: If you were a contestant on a cooking show, what signature dish would you make to impress the judges?
I’m known for burning water, but I can whip up some pretty good chicken parmesan if I feel like it.
