Tom Lee’s Bold Ethereum Prediction
Investment manager Tom Lee has once again asserted that Ethereum might reach $250,000 soon. He mentioned, “If Bitcoin reaches $1 million, then Ethereum will follow suit.” This statement was made during a message to shareholders on January 2nd. Lee, who is also the chairman of Bitmine, emphasized the need for shareholders to consider increasing authorized shares from 500 million to 50 billion.
The reasoning behind this proposed increase seems to be linked to potential stock splits. Lee anticipates that, as Ethereum’s price climbs, Bitmine’s stock price will skyrocket as well.
He predicts that, when Ethereum hits $250,000, Bitmine’s stock could reach $5,000. He believes many investors prefer a lower stock price, around $25, which would necessitate a future stock split of at least 1:100.
A vote concerning this expansion of authorized shares is set to conclude on January 14th.
Lee’s optimism about Ethereum’s value is based on an eight-year average of the price ratio between Ethereum and Bitcoin. He also pointed out the increasing trend of tokenization on Wall Street, mentioning insights from BlackRock’s CEO, Larry Fink. Fink described tokenization as a significant advancement in market infrastructure last month.
“Fortunately, much of this movement is happening on Ethereum,” Lee noted, highlighting activities by major institutions like BlackRock, JPMorgan Chase, Fidelity, Visa, and Robinhood on the Ethereum network.
He emphasized observing how many Wall Street firms are building on Ethereum and the total value locked within the network.
Currently, Ethereum trades around $3,200, which means achieving Lee’s target would require nearly an 8,000% increase. Last year, he had already forecasted that Ethereum could hit $15,000.
