Bo Nix has shown his true potential so far in training camp and has established himself as the Denver Broncos’ No. 1 quarterback next season.
“He’s been a lot better on the field, performance-wise, but there were some signs today in training camp practice,” Broncos reporter Mike Kliss said.Chris CaveFriday’s ” ” show.
He noted that the Knicks were the only quarterbacks taking part in ball-moving drills and walk-throughs, including one stretch when the team needed to gain a few yards with 13 seconds left in the game.
“Bo Nix was the only quarterback who did it,” Kills said.
“If Bo isn’t the guy, then why would they only use Bo?”
During ball-moving drills, the Knicks ran 16-17 plays, with Jarrett Stidham estimated at 4-5 and Zach Wilson not playing, Kills reported.
Kills and others believe coach Sean Payton is preparing the Knicks for their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 8.
The 24-year-old comes into the league after making an NCAA-record 61 starts at the University of Oregon, where he was a three-time captain.
In 2023, he led his Ducks team (12-2) to a Pac-12 Championship Game and a Vrbo Fiesta Bowl victory.
The Broncos selected him with the 12th overall pick, and he immediately impressed everyone.
Teammate and safety PJ Locke is another player who has been amazed by his performance so far.
“What I noticed watching Bo is he’s a good-looking guy,” Lock told reporters on Thursday.
“He’s really good at looking down. Even at OTAs, I was like, ‘Oh man, I can’t take my eyes off him,’ because a lot of times that’s the first thing a rookie quarterback sees and they get looked down right away.”
Lock, entering his fifth year in the NFL, has a keen eye for quarterbacks having played with six different starters for the Broncos in that span.
“I think he studies the safeties and he knows that we’re very instinctual and trying to play the game with him,” Lock said, “so he tries to play the game back. That’s what I noticed right away. And he can throw the pill. He can throw it.”
