Biles won the gold medal in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition on Thursday, following her team gold medal earlier last week.
The former president has used the phrase “black jobs” before, most notably during an interview Wednesday at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention.
“Millions of people coming through the border happen to have black jobs. You’ve got the best jobs,” Trump said, when one of the hosts asked what those “black jobs” were.
“Black jobs are anybody who’s got a job. That’s black jobs,” Trump said. “Anybody who’s got a job.”
old Comments from President Trump’s 2024 Vice Presidential CandidateSen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) recently reemerged, saying it was odd that “there was an attempt to turn a very tragic moment, with Simone Biles quitting the Olympic team, into this kind of heroism.”
“And I think it’s a pretty poor reflection of the therapeutic society that we are, that we try to celebrate people for their most vulnerable moments, rather than their moments of strength or their moments of heroism,” Vance continued.
Biles faced both criticism and praise for her decision to withdraw from some events at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, citing mental and emotional struggles, with some labelling her a “careless athlete.”
