The U.S. team has arrived in Paris with new uniforms and is gearing up for the Olympics.
Five members of the women’s gymnastics team — Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee and Hezly Rivera — showed off their patriotism during the Team USA Welcome Experience.
US gymnastics stalwart, Olympic veteran and team captain Simone Biles gave fans a sneak peek at her stay in Paris on her Instagram Stories, posting photos of her “Olympic Village” room and the team in their US uniforms.
She also shared a cozy photo with her roommate Jade Carey, which she captioned, “Goodnight roommate @jadecarey.”
Paris, France.
Not only was the team getting accustomed to their new surroundings, they also came to practice in matching leotards with an American flag theme.
Biles, who will be competing in her third Olympic Games, shared a glimpse of her training in an Instagram photo captioned with three French flag emojis.
She was inundated with congratulations from fans, former U.S. Team gymnasts including McKayla Maroney and fellow Olympians.
To date, 83 female gymnasts have represented the United States, winning a total of 48 Olympic medals across various disciplines, including 28 gold medals.
Biles, a seven-time Olympic medal winner, four of them gold, will likely make history in Paris as the oldest female gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal.
The 27-year-old is looking for revenge after withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics because of “Twisties.”
Rivera, a 16-year-old from New Jersey, who will be making her Olympic debut as part of the U.S. team, is also one gymnast to watch.
The fan-favorite women’s gymnastics competition will begin with the preliminary rounds on July 28 at 5 a.m. ET at the AccorHotels Arena.
