Sinaloa Cartel Member Who Became Influencer Killed in Mexico

Influencer Linked to Sinaloa Cartel Murdered

A former operator of the Sinaloa cartel, who had transitioned into a social media influencer, was killed Saturday night. The assailant reportedly forced Ochoa into his home before shooting him multiple times. This murder seems to be tied to the ongoing conflict within the Sinaloa cartel, which has seen violence spill onto social media and has resulted in at least six other influencers being murdered.

On that fateful Saturday evening, a gunman approached Kamilo “Porocoroco” Ochoa’s residence in Morelos, Mexico. The individual fired numerous shots, fatally wounding Ochoa, as noted by local reports. By the time the authorities arrived, the shooter had already escaped. Investigators later discovered Ochoa’s body, riddled with bullets, in his bathroom, dressed in the same outfit he wore during his live stream earlier that day.

Ochoa had faced various threats previously. Earlier this year, cartel members released images of him alongside other influencers believed to be affiliated with the Chapitos faction. Sadly, six of those individuals from that list have already lost their lives. The ongoing violence is a result of the Chapitos battling against the Maisa faction for over a year.

According to reports, this conflict intensified following the capture of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, the Sinaloa cartel leader, by Los Chapitos, who then handed him over to U.S. authorities. This act of betrayal ignited a fierce turf war that has led to the deaths and abductions of thousands.

Multiple local news sources suggest Ochoa had ties to the Sinaloa Cartel and worked under the convicted trafficker Damaso “Elmini LIC” Lopez before he went to prison. After his release, he became an influencer, often discussing topics related to organized crime on his streams.
