Bonnie Tyler Wakes from Medically Induced Coma

Bonnie Tyler, whose birth name is Gaynor Sullivan, has reportedly emerged from a medically induced coma. However, her condition remains “very unwell,” as stated by her spokesperson.

Her team shared on the singer’s official website that she is currently in an intensive care unit in Faro, Portugal. This follows emergency surgery on her intestines in May, which necessitated the coma to aid her recovery.

“Bonnie is no longer in a coma but remains very unwell and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal. Although her condition is improving, it is a slow process. Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time,” the statement reads.

The spokesperson also thanked fans for the overwhelming support, noting that Tyler is aware of the messages and appreciates the kind words.

“Bonnie’s family continue to ask for privacy and promise that we will issue further updates as soon as there are significant developments to share,” they concluded.

While her team has announced the cancellation of all upcoming shows, there is still hope that some scheduled for the fall may go ahead.

In May, it was reported that Tyler was rushed to a hospital in Portugal after suffering a cardiac arrest, which led to the need for emergency intestinal surgery.

Born Gaynor Hopkins, Tyler gained fame in 1976 with her hit single “Lost In France.” She became a worldwide sensation with subsequent hits like “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”
