Singer D4vd Named As 'Target' In Murder Investigation Related To Alleged Horrific Dismemberment Of Teen

Singer D4vd has been identified as a “target” in a grand jury investigation tied to the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Documents obtained by the police reveal that her dismembered and decomposed body was discovered in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla at a camp yard on September 8, 2025.

Recently unsealed court documents indicate that D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is under investigation by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. These documents also provide further details about Hernandez’s body condition at the time it was found.

Additionally, in September 2025, Hernandez’s mother had indicated that her daughter’s boyfriend was named David.

“Upon entering the front storage area, detectives noticed a black body bag swarming with insects and emitting a strong smell of decay,” the documents state.

“Detectives used black latex gloves to partially unzip the bag and observed the head and torso, badly decomposed,” the documents added.

According to the filings, when investigators removed the first body bag from the Tesla, they found that the arms and legs had been severed from the body. A second black bag was also found underneath the first, which contained additional severed body parts.

Coroners described the victim’s remains as “severely decomposed,” making it take a week for positive identification. Hernandez’s family had reported her missing in February and again in April of 2024.

The court filings suggest that D4vd may have had some involvement in the murder case, which is classified as “one count of murder.”

These 151 pages also include a petition for grand jury testimony involving D4vd’s father and characterize the singer as possibly linked to the crimes.

Initially submitted under confidentiality in California, these records were eventually made public due to an appeal in Texas connected to the family’s attempt to block compelled testimony. D4vd’s mother and brother were also called to testify in January.

Kent A. Shafer, the attorney for D4vd’s family, stated that the legal battles regarding the subpoena are ongoing.

“While the Court of Appeals denied our writ, we immediately filed a follow-up in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, which ruled in our favor and stayed the lower court’s order for the family to appear in California,” he explained.

D4vd, a platinum-selling artist, rose to fame on TikTok in 2022 with popular singles like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.”
