There is a deep family bond between the two celebrities.
Singer-songwriter Ciara recently appeared on an episode of PBS's “Finding Your Roots,” where she visited people around the world who might be related to her.
Well, she got the biggest shock ever when she found out she was related to a Hall of Famer.

Ciara is a distant relative of New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.
Show host Henry Louis Gates Jr. told Ciara that the two share “a long stretch of identical DNA on chromosome 14” inherited from Jeter's mother.

“What the hell?!” Ciara exclaimed when she saw Jeter's photo. “You're kidding, Derek Jeter! That's crazy.
Jeter isn't Ciara's first involvement in the sports world, having been married to Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson since 2016.
Wilson shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter) and joked:
“I always knew!” he wrote with a laughing emoji.
Even more ironically, Wilson, like Jeter, is a former Yankee.

The quarterback was actually drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2010 and played in the minor leagues while not playing college football.
However, more than a year after he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, the Texas Rangers acquired Wilson in the MLB Rule 5 Draft.
Despite being a Pro Bowl quarterback, Wilson was still in the Rangers' farm system. There he expressed his desire to one day wear a Yankees uniform, and in 2018 the Rangers traded him.
Wilson pinch hit for Aaron Judge in a spring training game in March of that year.

Wilson, Ciara, and Jeter were spotted together at the 2015 ESPYs, but of course they were unaware of their relationship.
