Singer Trey Songz claims he is the victim during his arrest for damaging a New York City hookah lounge: video

R&B artist Trey Songz was taken into custody early Sunday morning after an incident at a hookah lounge in Manhattan, where he claimed to be the victim, according to newly released footage from his arrest.

In the video, the 41-year-old singer, whose name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, states, “I’m not touching anyone.” He further insists, “Hey, brother, tell me I didn’t do anything to anybody,” as a female officer guides him into a police vehicle. “I didn’t do anything to anyone. They assaulted me. Girl, they assaulted me.”

Meanwhile, an unidentified man can be seen attempting to persuade law enforcement to release Trey, asking, “Nobody has any imminent charges. Please tell me what he is being arrested for.”

In the background, a woman can be heard screaming, “He did nothing.”

The chaos unfolded shortly before 4 a.m. at Mira Mediterranean Hookah Lounge on 34th Street, where Neverson allegedly got into a fight that resulted in $1,500 worth of damage, according to prosecutors.

Witnesses reported that a scuffle broke out involving “multiple individuals” at the bar.

At one point, while handcuffed inside the lounge, the “Slow Motion” artist was captured on video saying to an officer, “I was told I was going to get paid, but I haven’t been paid.”

In court later that day, Manhattan prosecutors noted that Neverson, who has a history of arrests, was charged with criminal mischief and another assault charge stemming from a separate incident where he allegedly struck an employee at Drama Nightclub in Times Square on December 4.

This latter incident reportedly occurred around 4:25 a.m. when Neverson became “unnecessarily enraged” after being informed the club would soon close.

Neverson was released without having to pay bail for either case.

His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, stated that the incident was instigated by patrons who provoked conflict and attempted to surround the singer. He mentioned that Trey’s security team stepped in to protect him and to calm the situation, but in the resulting confusion, an altercation took place, leading to Songz’s arrest despite being the original target of aggression.
