Sir Anthony Hopkins Buys Former Mansion of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Sir Anthony Hopkins has quietly acquired the Los Angeles mansion that once belonged to Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
The 88-year-old Oscar-winning actor lost his previous home in the Palisades due to destructive conditions in January 2025. Now, he has purchased a new residence from real estate developers Bob and Margie Champion for $13 million.
This new property, also located in the Palisades, boasts around 6,400 square feet with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It features a vine-covered entryway, along with formal living and dining rooms that have hardwood floors, crown molding, and multiple fireplaces.
There are some nice extras, too, like a temperature-controlled wine tasting room and a chef’s kitchen—whatever that means, maybe it just sounds fancy with Chianti and fava beans involved.
Associated with Hawn and Russell for years, this home is noted for its privacy and classic Los Angeles architecture, characteristics that typically attract buyers seeking seclusion.
Records indicate that Hawn and Russell purchased this property in 2004 for $4.124 million and sold it to the Champions in 2017 for $6.9 million.
Hopkins has a history of owning several properties in California, usually favoring older, quieter homes over newer, flashier ones. He previously owned a mansion in Malibu that narrowly averted disaster during the 2018 Woolsey Fire.
In recent times, he has maintained a relatively low profile outside his work. His memoir, “We Did Ok, Kid,” which discusses his struggles with addiction, was released last November. This year marks a significant milestone for the legendary actor, as he celebrated 50 years of sobriety, sharing reflections on his journey in a recent Instagram post. Those who know his real estate choices often note that he’s drawn to privacy, architectural quality, and a lasting sense of home.
In this transaction, the seller was represented by Josh Flagg from “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles,” who opted not to comment on the sale.
