Sir Nick Faldo is considered one of the most decorated and respected players in the history of professional golf. During his illustrious career, Faldo won the Masters tournament three times and the Open Championship three times.
Suffice to say he knows what it takes to play at the highest level on the biggest stage.
Ahead of the 88th Masters Tournament last week, Faldo joined Sky Sports’ Golf Podcast and said: interesting statementespecially about LIV Golf and Jon Rahm.
Asked for his thoughts on Rahm’s preparations, Fuld stepped inside.
“I know he commented that he saw Riviera and thought, ‘I wish I could have been there.’ The Players was amazing and he was so excited. I’m sure he would have loved to have been there.”
“He’s been playing resort courses in shorts for the last few months. He hasn’t been tested… maybe he’s not sharp enough.”
The tournament then took place with most of the 13 LIV players falling flat on their faces. Rahm, coming in as the defending champion, had a bad weekend.
Rahm finished the tournament at 9 over, 20 strokes behind Masters champion Scottie Scheffler. So a guy who wore his green jacket in 2023 had to wear it again the following year.
Fuld then reposted the video to remind everyone of the emotions he expressed.
Overall, three LIV golfers, Bryson DeChambeau, Cam Smith and Tyrrell Hutton, recorded top-10 finishes at Augusta National. But the vast majority of athletes on the Saudi-funded circuit struggled mightily.
