Apple Class Action Settlement
Apple customers might soon see some compensation—up to $95 each—from a class action settlement tied to claims that the company advertised AI capabilities that weren’t fully present on certain devices.
Earlier this year, Apple agreed to pay $250 million to resolve a class action lawsuit regarding the delayed integration of AI features and Siri on newer products. The anticipation surrounding the release of the iPhone 16 in September 2024 reportedly raised consumer expectations that AI features would be included, although, as per the lawsuit, the actual rollout didn’t meet those expectations—especially with the integration of ChatGPT and a promised emoji tool.
According to the settlement terms, eligible class members making valid claims could receive $25 for each device, with the potential for the total payout to range up to $95, depending on how many valid claims are submitted.
To qualify for compensation, customers must reside in the U.S. and have purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any model of the iPhone 16 between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. They must also confirm that they anticipated specific Siri features at the time of purchase.
Those wanting to receive payment will need to complete a claim form by December 21, 2026. It’s also worth noting that customers can file a claim for each eligible device they own.
Additionally, the original purchaser of the device must be the one submitting the claim; resold devices are not eligible, though businesses can also make claims for devices they purchased.
Claims that are incomplete, false, or submitted late will be rejected, according to the guidelines on the settlement’s official website.
Forms submitted for claims have to include updated contact details along with proof of the device purchase, affirming that it was bought within the designated timeframe.
Payments will be issued via physical or digital checks after the final approval of the settlement. However, any appeals related to the settlement may delay the payment process, while prompt payouts are assured if no appeals are made.
A final approval hearing for this settlement is set for February 24, 2027, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose. This hearing will allow the court to decide if the settlement is fair, reasonable, and sufficient, also addressing any objections that may arise.
