SiriusXM Will Conclude Howard Stern Show After Two Decades

Howard Stern’s Show on SiriusXM Reportedly Ending

There are reports that Howard Stern’s long-running show on SiriusXM, which has been a staple for 20 years, is approaching its conclusion.

Insiders have indicated that while Stern’s contract is set to end in the fall, SiriusXM is not expected to meet his salary demands. “They might make him an offer, but it seems unlikely that he’ll accept it,” one source mentioned.

Stern will be severing ties completely with Sirius but plans to retain his content library.

Further insights from the source suggest that the financial aspect just doesn’t add up anymore. “Sirius isn’t willing to pay what he wants, and it simply isn’t worth the investment for them anymore,” they added. “As long as he’s still doing the show, they won’t be able to justify continuing his salary.”

Some sources have drawn comparisons to Stephen Colbert’s situation at CBS, suggesting that the costs involved have become unsustainable. “Seeing what happened with him, they probably feel they can’t go on with Stern,” the insider explained. “If Sirius offers him something substantial, I doubt it’s based on performance, but rather due to ongoing political factors.”

Stern has been vocal about his views on Donald Trump and his supporters. He has even expressed disdain for those who backed the former president. “There’s this idea that if you like me, you’re good, and if you don’t, you’re bad… I felt that,” he said during a show. “I completely disagree with Trump politically. I don’t think he should be anywhere near the White House. I don’t have an issue with people; I have issues with those who voted for him. I think they make poor choices.”

Stern has made it clear that he’s willing to lose listeners over his political stances, at one point even equating Trump to Hitler when discussing immigration rhetoric.

“It’s the same playbook I’ve seen in history,” he noted. “Hitler started as a clownish figure in Germany. He managed to win an election, which was catastrophic for the country.” He’s also previously referred to Trump’s followers as “Nincompoops.”

Stern added, “These folks haven’t experienced true dictatorships; their freedoms haven’t been challenged. They don’t really understand what it means to live under different governance beyond democracy.”
