Two Sisters Charged in Restaurant Stabbing Incident
Two sisters are facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing a restaurant employee in Detroit over a food order mix-up. Notably, one of the sisters was nine months pregnant during the incident.
Brianna and Kierianna Long have been charged with assault with intent to commit murder, along with other related charges, stemming from the confrontation that occurred on the city’s east side.
The stabbing took place in the 17100 block of East Warren Avenue on May 30 around 6 PM. It has been reported that the establishment was a chicken restaurant, although its name hasn’t been disclosed.
According to court records, Brianna Long is 29 years old and Kierianna is 26, while the employee involved is 23.
Prosecutors claim an argument erupted between the sisters and the restaurant worker after they received the wrong order. This confrontation escalated as the sisters allegedly moved behind the counter and began to attack the employee.
Furthermore, reports indicate that Brianna and Kierianna chased several employees inside the restaurant, throwing kitchenware, such as pots and pans, at them. During the chaos, it’s alleged that the sisters picked up knives thrown back by the staff and stabbed the victim.
In addition to the stabbing, prosecutors mentioned an attempt to throw hot oil at the worker, with one of the sisters purportedly shouting threats during the ordeal.
The injured employee was taken to a nearby hospital and required surgery as a result of the attack.
After the incident, the sisters fled in a vehicle but were later apprehended by the police.
Interestingly, it was noted that Brianna Long gave birth just four days before her arraignment. During that court appearance, her attorney argued that the employee had been dismissive about the food error, even claiming that the worker had started the altercation by throwing something first.
Brianna asserted her innocence in front of the judge and mentioned her newborn child at home. The judge expressed concern over how a mere food mix-up escalated to such violence, which factored into setting the bonds for the sisters at $25,000 for Brianna and $100,000 for Kierianna.
Prosecutors have specifically charged Kierianna Long with the stabbing, while Brianna is accused of aiding in the assault and assisting the employee’s escape.
