Six Arrested After Hit-and-Run at Party

Authorities have reported the arrest of six people who were in the country illegally, following a hit-and-run incident over the weekend.

The situation unfolded early Sunday when a 911 caller informed police about an unidentified individual found dead in a trailer at the Willow Oak Mobile Home Park in Mulberry. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this information.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered that the 21-year-old victim had sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim had attended a party the previous night, where it seemed nearly everyone had been drinking. For some unknown reason, he chose to lie down in the driveway of his trailer.

Reportedly, a 52-year-old man named Ponciano Cinto-Ramirez reversed a van parked in the driveway, inadvertently hitting the victim.

When authorities attempted to arrest Cinto-Ramirez for leaving the scene, they found several individuals inside his trailer who were uncooperative and refused to come out.

The investigation revealed that all six suspects were illegally residing in the United States after coming from Guatemala.

“These individuals now face serious felony charges, and I sincerely hope they are deported back to Guatemala,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. He remarked on the tragedy unfolding from what began as a neighborhood party, leading to a young man’s death and the arrest of several undocumented individuals.

Cinto-Ramirez is facing charges for leaving the scene of the accident, driving without a license, and resisting arrest.

The others arrested include Alfredo Cinto-Ramirez, 48; Ligoberto Lopez Morales, 22; Jacintropez Morales, 46; Leonel Lopez, 24; and Ramilo Sinto Lopez, 23. All faced charges related to resisting arrest, while Alfredo, Leonel, and Ramiro were accused of providing false identities to law enforcement. Moreover, Ramiro faces an additional charge concerning altered firearms.
