San Jose State heads into the Mountain West finals, and they wish they had earned a spot on the court.
The Spartans will be in the championship game after Boise State University announced Thursday that it would forfeit its semifinal game amid controversy over transgender athlete Blair Fleming.
The Broncos made the announcement shortly after defeating Utah State in the first round of the playoffs. Boise State forfeited both regular season games against SJSU, while Utah State forfeited its only game.

Following the Broncos' forfeiture, SJSU said it was “disappointed” with the move.
San Jose State said in a statement: “We especially appreciate those who continued civil and respectful discussions during this time of Thanksgiving.” “We celebrate and support all students, including our student-athletes, who compete for their communities this holiday weekend.
“While we are disappointed in Boise State's decision, the women's volleyball team is preparing for Saturday's match and looks forward to competing for a championship.”
SJSU is currently awaiting the winner between No. 1 seed Colorado State and No. 5 San Diego State. Neither team lost against them in the regular season.

Twelve women jointly filed a lawsuit against the Mountain West and its commissioners, alleging violations of Title IX and First Amendment rights. The women include SJSU co-volleyball captain Brooke Slusser and two former Spartans, as well as local athletes. Other Mountain West Schools.
