A tragic accident on New Year's Eve during a ski trip on New Hampshire's Cranmore Mountain claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy.
According to officials, the boy was skiing on an intermediate course at the time of the accident.
North Conway Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, but the boy had already been taken to the base of the mountain and was unconscious.

CPR was unsuccessfully performed by the Cranmore Ski Patrol Team, and he was taken by ambulance to Maine Health Memorial Hospital, where he never recovered. He was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.
Cranmore Mountain Resort and Conway Police Chief Christopher Mattei released a statement expressing their condolences.

“On behalf of Cranmore Mountain Resort, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” a Cranmore Mountain spokesperson said in a statement. “The entire Cranmore family is saddened by this tragic loss.”

“On behalf of the Conway Police Department and all of the first responders, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of the 12-year-old boy,” Matei wrote.

The victim's name has not been released at this time.
