Skip Bayless Critiques Steelers’ Decision on Quarterback
Skip Bayless is back on social media, expressing strong criticism of the Pittsburgh Steelers for what he views as a poor choice in quarterback.
The former ESPN and Fox Sports commentator labeled the Steelers’ decision as “washed, 41-year-old fingerpoint, accused diva,” referencing quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Bayless shared his astonishment that the Steelers went ahead and signed Rodgers, suggesting that he believes the former Jets quarterback will be a liability for the team.
I can’t believe Pittsburgh’s Steelers signed a 41-year-old finger pointer, dismissed diva just washed away.
“He’s been washed in Green Bay for the past three years,” Bayless remarked. He went on to discuss Rodgers’ playoff performances, citing his ineffectiveness in recent games.
Rodgers recently signed a one-year contract with the Steelers after being traded alongside star receiver DK Metcalf, marking an all-in approach for the upcoming 2025 season, especially with linebacker TJ Watt nearing the end of his contract.
“What happened to the Pittsburgh Steelers?” he mused. “I don’t hate them anymore; I sympathize with them.”
Bayless noted that, despite not reaching the playoffs since 2021, he feels the need to highlight Rodgers’ disappointing playoff stats.
His last postseason outing with the 49ers ended with a heartbreaking 13-10 loss to the Packers, where Rodgers threw for 225 yards without any touchdowns.
Rodgers’ last victory in the playoffs was back in 2020 against the Rams, but that was followed by a loss in the NFC Championship Game against the Buccaneers.
Bayless suggested the Steelers might be better off sticking with quarterback Mason Rudolph, remarking that it seems like they are heading toward a tough season.
“At least he has a name, but he doesn’t have a game,” Bayless wrapped up his critique.
Rodgers had a mixed season last year with the Jets, accumulating 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while his first season ended abruptly due to a torn Achilles tendon.
