Sky and Sun clash results in ejections

Fracas Breaks Out in WNBA Game

A scuffle erupted during a WNBA game between the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night, leading to multiple ejections.

The incident unfolded with about six minutes left in the second quarter. It began when Sky guard Rebecca Allen and Sun forward Bria Hartley clashed over a rebound. In the midst of this tussle, Allen’s teammate, Ariel Atkins, seemingly sprinted from across the court and collided with Hartley.

It appeared that Hartley and Atkins’s exchanges were getting a bit heated, prompting players from both teams to step in. Ultimately, Hartley and Allen were ejected from the game, with Atkins also receiving her marching orders for her escalating involvement.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh expressed disappointment over how things escalated, suggesting that the officials had missed critical moments leading up to the fracas, particularly an elbow from Allen that went uncalled.

“I think that type of thing happens when the game isn’t being properly controlled,” Marsh remarked. “Usually, there are elements that get overlooked, which leads to situations like this.”

This incident wasn’t isolated. The season has seen its share of tensions, particularly highlighted by earlier matchups—most notably a confrontation involving Marina McBray, Jacee Sheldon, Caitlyn Clark, and Sophie Cunningham.

In the end, Connecticut secured a 71-62 victory over Chicago.
