Angel Reese is the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year, at least according to Sky teammate Chennedy Carter.
Reese, a first-year pro, recorded his 12th consecutive double-double this season, recording a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds in the Sky’s 88-84 win over the Seattle Storm on Friday night.
Reese tied the longest double-double record, set by Candace Parker more than a decade ago during the 2009-2010 season.
Carter, who scored 33 points for the Sky on Friday, believes Reese’s performance should earn him the No. 1 rookie spot.
“Barbie Rookie of the Year. There’s no other way to say it,” Carter said when asked about Reese’s 12th double-double after the game at ION. “She goes out there and does her job every night no matter what team she’s playing. Definitely Barbie Rookie of the Year.”
Reese made history on Friday night, but Caitlin Clark supporters will have their own ideas about who should win the Rookie of the Year title after the Fever guard wrote her own name into history on Saturday.

Clarke scored 19 points in the upset win over the Liberty, becoming the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double.
Reese entered Saturday averaging 13.9 points and leading the WNBA with 11.7 rebounds per game.
The two have garnered record ratings this season as their rivalry has grown and been constantly compared.
Clarke’s popularity was borne out of the fact that Tuesday’s game in Las Vegas drew the largest attendance for a WNBA regular-season game in 25 years and she received 700,735 All-Star fan votes, the most for a rookie.
Both rookies will play for the WNBA team in the All-Star Game on July 20.
